Lots of gamers will be familiar with how botched the launch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection was. Microsoft is confident it won’t make the same mistake with Halo 5: Guardians.
Game Informer had a chance to speak with Xbox Head, Phil Spencer, at GDC 2015 this week. Spencer talked about both Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo 5: Guardians.
Spencer admitted that Halo: The Master Chief Collection didn’t launch as Microsoft had planned it to. He said they did a lot of “testing methodologies” and that the game was ready to launch. However he said they “learned some things we didn’t know going into the launch“. He confessed that this is something that Microsoft have to get better at.
Spencer however is confident that Halo 5: Guardians won’t suffer the same launch woes as Halo: The Master Chief Collection. He said that Microsoft is taking “extra preventative measures” to ensure the game will be playable at launch.
Spencer says the recent beta for Halo 5: Guardians has been really helpful. Microsoft is gathering a lot of feedback and they are confident the issues can be addressed much earlier than the game’s launch later this year.
Let’s hope Spencer is correct and Halo 5: Guardians has a smooth launch.
