Microsoft Reacts To Competing With Nintendo NX Console

Microsoft Reacts To Competing With Nintendo NX Console News Nintendo NX Nintendo NX Nintendo

Even though nobody knows much about the Nintendo NX yet, this hasn’t stopped people from asking what the competition feels about a new console coming out to the market soon.

Gamesbeat had a chance to interview Aaron Greenberg who is the head of marketing for Xbox. The website asked him how the impending release for the Nintendo NX will impact Microsoft’s Xbox One.

He responded:I’m not sure what Nintendo’s doing. I hear the same rumors and stuff that you do. I guess we’ll react to that when we know more. Nintendo’s always been innovative. They’ve always differentiated in their own way. They’ve always danced to their own tune, if you will. It wouldn’t surprise me if they do their own thing when the time is right. What they’ve done is unique and different. How they’ll compete with us remains to be seen.

Nintendo is keeping smart by not leaking any details for the NX console just yet. Nintendo plans to make the console innovative and new unlike with its Wii U console. Even though the PS4 and Xbox One are popular now, things could change if the NX brings something fresh to the table.

We won’t know what the Nintendo NX console will do until the company announces its features in 2016. 2016 is not too far off now so hopefully some details are revealed in a few month’s time.

  • hey the wii u did do something new, but require all game to be capable with the gamepad as a standard, but people just take it for granted.

    • kehkou

My impression is that Wii U was too expensive for the amount of power, and I think the Gamepad was a factor.
Having said that, I love my Wii U. I’m using it right now!

      • Allen

WiiU is a great console, I love mine more than I ever did my Wii

        • kehkou

Wouldn’t dream of using PS4 or BOne, Wii U even plays GC games flawlessly if you know how to set it up to run them.

          • Bortly

            ya?

          • kehkou

Oh yeah! Google “Nintendont”, a la GBAtemp.

          • yea, but is not official, that’ll void your warrant and probably get charge to send it for repair if your wii u still in that 30 month thing.

          • kehkou

Lol! warranty long gone (zelda unit), i don’t think they will accept to fix it, but that’s ok. Homebrew on Wii U uses Wii homebrew, 2007 technology, that’s been proven far more stable than nintendo’s own software. IMHO Wii was far more versatile than Wii U in that regard.

          • platomaker

Wii was more versatile period. The wii u gamepad just offered missed expectations.

        • Wizard of Peace

Well the Wii didn’t have a great library to begin with…

      • well at launch it was 50 dollar cheaper than the ps4 and xbox, unless you brought the basic one (white) it was 100 dollar cheaper. if the gamepad wasn’t a standard thing then it’ll be 50 dollar more cheaper if they didn’t include it.

        • kehkou

IIRC mine was even cheaper, I preordered a Zelda unit.

          • yea 4 you because you got zelda ww hd bundle, i got mine months after launch.

Phil Spencer: “We aren’t focusing on competing with Sony but we copy them and react to them all the time” “We’re focused on trying to get as many customers as we can, even if that means our marketing team has to lie in Halo 5 ads and we have to backtrack when our greed doesn’t work”

Aaron Greenberg: “I’m watching Nintendo, and we will respond to them depending on what they announce”

Nintendo: “We’re not sharing information about the NX because Sony and Microsoft will try to copy us”

    • Darth Vader™

      XboxMK1: “I have a tinfoil hat.”

      • Ben A

        awwww. DOANintendo junkie

    • ..

      Lol at Sony being innovators.

      • Zatekuyo

They innovate this in their own way, and unlike Microsoft, Sony’s pretty much half Nintendo at that point, because in short, it feels like they had connection to what nintendo has, but not really.

  • Darth Vader™

Can’t wait to see what the NX is like.

  • Mike E. Delta

I’m down with whatever Nintendo does, long live the OG of consoles forever! ?

    • Allen

I will too but OG? Please show some respect to Atari

      • kehkou

Atari almost killed US gaming forever; Nintendo brought it back.

        • Allen

So what? Atari was the shit and if not for it Nintendo may not be what it is. I freaking love Nintendo but this is our history and it deserves respect

          • kehkou

Ih! Much fond memories with Atari, and I still use 2600 games on an emulator on Wii U. They surely have my respect, just wish they kept a tighter lid on licensing. Imagine a 2015 Atari console, It could have happened!

      • Mike E. Delta

Yeah, but Nintendo still here… ?

      • Streight Salt

        Yes this so much this

  • Bortly

Once the NX is released, Sony and Microsoft can decide what innovations they can steal from Nintendo.

    • Zatekuyo

Pfft, Sony doesn’t actually decide what innovation they could use to copy nintendo, all they could use a revised VAIO as a back up plan to counter that only this time, on a cartidge side.

    • PersonWithCommonSense

Sony made a VR headset. They didn’t seal that.
Microsoft made the kinetic use voice commands, they did’t steal that.
Nintendo made the Pro controller, obviously stolen from an Xbox 360
      These are all facts.

      • platomaker

Yeah the pro controller shape is as “microsoft” as using letters on controller is to “nintendo”.
There really isn’t any “stealing” since all that legal matter is a grey mess.
The long bone controller was snes- adding contours was Sony’s territory and inverting some buttons and sticks were the MS touch.
What should really be analyzed is “what has been done with these technologies”? Where is Sony going with its VR and MS with its voice commands? To the living room to control/interact with media or play games?

  • Mr Xrat

May as well just wrap up the Xbone now tbh.

    • Ben A

then Nintendo NX will be DOA, just like their 4 year old Wii U. LOL

      • kehkou

That would be great if NX got a Dead or Alive game!

  • Ben A

nothing new from this dying Nintendo. wii u 2.0. just like their DOA Wii U.

    • Allen

      WiiU is a fantastic console.

      New super Mario u
      Mario 3d world
      Pikman 3
      Yoshi wholly world
      Star Fox
      Monolith X
      Donkey Kong
      Kirby
      Super Smash Bros
      Mario Kart
      Nintendo land (Mario chase)
      Mario Maker

All amazing games, innovative game pad way better than I thought as another Netflix tablet, browser and I love it in a lot of games. Mario Chase is such a great party game, tablet holder hides, they can see map overview and player position, other players can see tablet holders face, it’s just so much fun

      • PersonWithCommomSense

Mario kart 8 was the worst Mario Kart I have ever played. Just look at the battle mode.
The Xbox One is technically cheaper than the wii u too.
Xbox one Master Cheif collection costs $350
        Wii U costs $300
Xbox is more powerful, comes with 4 games in one, has 500GB, and free games.
The wii u bundle comes with 32GB, is weaker, and comes with one game.
The wii u was a let down, they could have made another Game Cube.
The PS4 out sold the wii u in one month.
I am not a fanboy, I am just stating facts.

        • Allen

You are a dumb ass “guest account – grayed out troll name”

-WiiU has the most high rated exclusives even beating out the all mighty PS4. To be fair they have had the longest time on the market too.

-WiiU may only be 32gb but the games do not need to be installed like PS4/Xbone. 32gb of game save data and apps is more than enough room. I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface and I have nearly every game I listed.

WiiU makes a perfect secondary console to the PS4. Xbox meh, you are better off getting a PC or upgrading the one you already have since many xbox exclusives are not exclusive as they are on PC with free online play.

        • platomaker

stating facts: “worst mario kart I have ever played”.

If you really want to get your money’s worth- get a gaming laptop for twice the price of a usual PS4 bundle (on black friday). No yearly charge, all the 3rd party games, and portable.

Master chief collection would be an amazing game if it allowed players to play different modes from each halo game with strangers- the playlist is limited so that if you want objectives games then chances are you’re playing halo 3 or 4 more than 2 and thus will have people quit leading to a really rough time or possibly an easy match.

You’re right about xbone being more powerful but the question is- what is it doing with all that power? The updates alone are filling up my comcast data quota for the month.

Ah Desperate MS fanboy are so funny. :)

    • Zatekuyo

      Your username is.

  • PersonWithCommonSense

Why are there so many Nintendo and Wii U fanboys here?

    • Ctoan

Probably because this is a Nintendo article?

    • platomaker

People searching for news on NX- people trash talk and what do you expect would happen.
Though admittedly, there is A LOT missing from the Wii U- the Wii understandably didn’t get a lot because of its power but at least the company supported it better.
