Installation times on the Xbox One are kind of long. These long install times and possible downloads necessary for day one patches can have users waiting upwards of an hour to play a game for the first time upon purchase.

We need to get better at chunking our games, said Spencer

According to Microsoft’s Phil Spencer, it’s something that Microsoft needs to get better with.

“We need to get better at chunking our games so the partial install allows games to start sooner,” said Spencer via Twitter.

Just what Microsoft is doing about this problem, or when we can expect games to install more quickly was not addressed by the Microsoft Studios head.

Among other launch issues, one of the major complaints that Xbox One users had about the new system when firing it up for the first time was the long installation times that were seen for nearly every game. Some reported cases had users waiting hours upon hours to play a disc-based game.
