Well, it seems that Telltale is shortening up the time fans have to wait between new episodes of their series. While discussing the impending retail release of Minecraft: Story Mode the developer has revealed that Episode 2 ‘Assembly Required’ will arrive sometime this week, though which day specifically wasn’t shared. Those who buy the retail release of Minecraft: Story Mode should have immediate access to the episode once it is available.
Minecraft: Story Mode takes the ridiculously popular open-world survival and crafting game and puts it into a more narrative focused environment. While it tells a story, it isn’t meant to be the overarching canonical explanation for the strange universe of Minecraft. Instead you follow Jesse and his/her band of friends as they embark on a quest to save the world from a great evil that has been unleashed. To do this they must reunite the Order of the Stone, which was introduced in Episode 1.
Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 1 premiered on October 13th, which was just two weeks ago. This makes for an extremely short wait time between episodes, especially compared to Telltale’s history. Have they changed their development practices and gotten a few episodes ready before even beginning the game? Seems like it, though how many of the five planned episodes are already prepared is yet to be seen.
