MLB The Show 16 is the next in the line of Sony’s exclusive MLB titles that are the only realistic style baseball sims out there today. Last year may have been a little disappointing, but Sony San Diego Studio is looking to show us just why we should be excited for this year’s game, and they are starting with a few new features, mostly involving one of the series’ favorite game modes.
Up until the launch of MLB The Show 16 on March 29, the development team is planning on showing us a lot of the game through developer diary videos and Twitch live streams, complete with a schedule of new stuff each week. Before kicking it into full gear in February, they are starting with some new features in Road to the Show mode and the new Showtime mode feature through a short video.
One of the new features that they have shown off from MLB The Show 16 so far is the Showtime mode, which gives you even more control of your player, as time will slow down in critical moments that require precision, such as diving for a ball in the outfield.
In the RTTS mode, a number of new details have been revealed, including the ability to play a full series of Road to the Show games without having to even go back to the main menu, while still getting access to the training screen between games.. The training system has been revamped, with the ability to also obtain gameplay perks through doing it, while the RTTS experience as a whole is said to be more “personalized and rewarding.”
Scouting is also a focus in MLB The Show 16’s RTTS mode, as there is a new Scout Day that allows you to show off your skills to scouts outside of a game to better improve your draft position, along with improved scouting reports.
It sounds like there is still plenty more to show off in MLB The Show 16 with all these developer diaries and Twitch streams coming, so make sure to stay tuned throughout February and March as more details are revealed prior to the release for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on March 29.
