More Pokémon and Characters Revealed in New Sword and Shield Video

A new video was recently uploaded to The Official Pokémon Youtube Channel, which introduces a lot of new things that will appear in the upcoming Sword and Shield games, including new Pokémon and characters.

The video starts off by introducing some new Pokémon the player will be able to find in the Galar region. These include Alcremie, a Fairy-type with the ability Sweet Veil; Yamper, an Electric-type with the ability Ball Fetch; Rolycoly, a Rock-type with the abilities Steam Engine or Heatproof; and Duraludon, a Steel/Dragon-type with the abilities Light Metal or Heavy Metal.

Also revealed for the first time were some more human characters the player will meet on their journey across Galar. One of them is Chairman Rose, who is the chairman of the Galar Pokémon League, as well as being “the president of a large business conglomerate,” according to the official Pokémon website. Oleana is the vice president of Chairman Rose’s company, as well as his secretary. Interestingly, all of the Gyms in the Galar region, as well as the Champion himself, all have corporate sponsors whose logos you’ll find across the region. It seems likely that this theme of powerful corporations will play a role in these games’ larger narratives.

The new video also introduced the Gym Leaders Bea, a Fighting-type Gym Leader exclusive to Sword, and Allister, a Ghost-type Gym Leader exclusive to Shield, as well as revealing the new Gigantamax feature.

Pokémon Sword and Shield will launch for the Nintendo Switch on November 15.
