NBA Live 16 Sold Poorly VS NBA 2K16’s Monster Sales

According to the recent NPD report that was announced recently, the sales breakdown for NBA Live 16 and NBA 2K16 showed a very sales large gap between the two games.

As noted by a user on NeoGAF, NBA 2K16 sold an astounding 1.1 million copies in North America alone. As for NBA Live 16, apparently it only sold a measly 8,300 copies in North America.

That is a large gap. EA Sports were promising that NBA Live 16 would be able to challenge NBA 2K this year. However, it looks like the fans forgot that the game existed and decided to pick up 2K Sports’ game instead.

It did not help the fact that both NBA Live 16 and NBA 2K16 both came out on the same day this year. The North American release date for the games this year was September 29th. It would have been smarter if EA Sports released the game on a different day instead of competing directly with 2K Sports.

The NBA Live series suffered ever since the franchise took a multi-year hiatus. Since the series got revived two years ago, EA Sports has been trying to play catch up ever since.

With sales so low, it will be interesting to see if EA Sports announces NBA Live 17, or decides to cancel it and go back to the drawing board once again…
