The same day that the new Castlevania animated series launches on Netflix, the streaming giant has made official a second season of the show that will come in 2018. The company seems to be so happy with the result of the first collection of episodes that it’s doubling down the order for the next batch, with the season season now expected to feature eight episodes instead of the four that form the first season.

The new Castlevania series is loosely based on the story of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, and it presents Trevor Belmont as the first member of the renowned family to face Dracula, while defending a small town in Eastrern Europe during Medieval times. The series seems to translate perfectly the gothic artstyle of the videogames and the dark fantasy vibe that has made the franchise such an iconic property over the decades.

The series features a cast of well known actors from TV, including Graham McTavish (The Hobbit, Outlander, Preacher) as Dracula, Richard Armitage (The Hobbit trilogy) as Trevor Belmont, James Callis (Battlestar Galactica) as Alucard, Emily Swallow (Supernatural) as Lisa. The series’ producers, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar, have previously worled on other animated shows like Adventure Time and Dredd.

Season 1 of Castlevania is available now worldwide on Netflix. Season 2 is expected to launch next year.
