A new gameplay video for Sony’s next certifiable hit, Days Gone by Bend Studios just dropped. The game was shown off at the Tokyo Game Show and reveals some different ways of play.

Days Gone is an open-world action-adventure game where you play as Deacon St. John, a Drifter and bounty hunter. The world has suffered some global pandemic that has wiped out most of humanity, leaving millions of others transformed into what survivors call Freakers.

The demo does a great job of showing how players should or shouldn’t approach different situations when faced with hordes of Freakers. More than once, the developer playing dies a gruesome death to prove how quickly you can get overrun.

The coolest thing in Days Gone is by far is facing off against hundreds of Freakers. It’s impressive how the game maintains a steady framerate whilst displaying so many fast moving characters. They way they swarm like ants, climbing, tumbling and breaking through obstacles is downright frightening.

Players will have to be constantly on the move while also using the environment to slow down or destroy the Freakers. It all looks exceptionally impressive and adrenaline-inducing.

Days Gone is slated for release February 22, 2019.
