DC has really been knocking it out of the park with their live action offerings in recent years, but their once strong animated department has been incredibly lacking. However, that may finally be changing as a previously rumored Justice League animated series has now been officially confirmed.
With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice debuting next March and Justice League after that, it would make sense to take advantage of that timing with a new series, which is what it sounds like they are doing with a new Justice League series.
Rumors first started swirling about a series titled Justice League Action, which seemed to have a poster hanging on the wall at Cartoon Network alongside other upcoming series. The confirmation of a new Justice League cartoon came courtesy of Cartoon Network Canada’s Facebook page, which tells World’s Finest that it is indeed coming.
“We will be premiering a new Justice League series, but not likely until next fall.”
As of right now, the only DC animated series on television is the very polarizing Teen Titans Go. After the cancellation of Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series in 2013, followed by the short run of Beware the Batman, the animated offerings have been almost non-existent, which makes this announcement all the better.
Hopefully we’ll get more news about this series in the near future, including whether this will feature a smaller team like Justice League or be more expansive like Justice League Unlimited. Who would you like to see be part of this new team? Make sure to let us know in the comments below.
