Today, May 9, held PlayStation’s second State of Play video presentation. Among other announcements and reveals was a new look at the upcoming Final Fantasy VII remake.

The Final Fantasy VII remake was first announced back during E3 of 2015, but Square Enix has been mostly silent about it ever since. Now, nearly four years later, we finally got to see some actual character models, and even gameplay, of the highly anticipated remake. During the State of Play presentation, a new trailer for the remake was played, which showed off the new models for characters like Cloud and Aerith – you can even see the back of Sephiroth for a second there. We also got to see some gameplay, which takes on an action-RPG style, as opposed to utilizing the traditional turn-by-turn RPG mechanics that the original version of Final Fantasy VII used back in 1997.

There is still a ton about this remake that remains unknown. We don’t know its release date, or even release window, and we still don’t know, despite this new trailer appearing on PlayStation’s State of Play, if this remake will be a PlayStation exclusive like the original was for a long time, or if it will be available on other consoles as well. Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait too much longer for new information, as the new trailer ended with the statement, “More to come in June.”
