Some new Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain details have been revealed thanks to a media-only preview event that was held earlier this week.

Metal Gear Informer collected lots of information from journalists that attended the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain preview event. Previews won’t be written up yet, but many of those who attended tweeted out some small details that will be of interest to fans of the game.

The only Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain mission journalists were allowed to talk about were those set in Afghanistan. Gamespot’s Peter Brown tweeted out a lot of details and even did a Q&A.

According to Brown, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is going to be a very long game. He said the preview allowed him to complete 4 percent of the game. This 4 percent was 7 hours long. He also encountered a huge bear during his travels. The game is also said to be a true open world experience offering no restrictions. The preview also allowed him to see some new characters.

Another journalist that tweeted out some details was GameRadar’s David Roberts. He played 8 hours of the game so far and loved it. Like in Peace Walker, you can “recruit” new soldiers to help you out. He had to research a new rocket launcher to take out a tank. He said the tank can be taken out with the rocket launcher, or C4 if you are good enough.

There were a ton of other details that were shared about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. I might note them down on another post as a lot was revealed. However, full previews are expected to be released from June 9th.
