A Range Rover owner named Tamika is extremely frustrated with her new luxury SUV. She’s calling it the “worst car ever” after finding out about an annoying problem with the door handles. When she presses her key fob, the handles don’t work the way they should.
According to Motor1, Tamika shared a video on TikTok showing what goes wrong with her car. When she tries to unlock the SUV with her key fob, something strange happens. The driver’s side handle stays stuck, but the back door handle on the same side pops out instead. She tried pulling the back handle, but the door still wouldn’t open.
“I’m literally pressing the key fob to open the door, and only the back handle opened up,” she said in the video. She explained that the handle isn’t even opening her car. “I’m so irritated. Like, this literally is the worst car,” she added. The broken handle has become a big and expensive problem for Tamika.
This door handle problem is costing her serious money
Because of this issue, she can’t use her car at all until it gets fixed. She now has to tow the vehicle back to Land Rover just because of a door handle that won’t work. That’s a huge hassle, especially when you pay so much money for a luxury vehicle.
Tamika had some strong advice for anyone thinking about buying a Range Rover. “This is your sign that if you ever want to get a Range Rover: just don’t get it,” she said. If you want a luxury SUV, she thinks you should “just get a Benz” instead.
It turns out Tamika isn’t the only one dealing with this problem. Other Range Rover owners have reported the same issues with their door handles.
One person in the comments section wrote: “I had this issue, I needed all the handles replaced. I this it’s a sensor issues when a door isn’t properly closed in place. At least that’s what happened to mine.” Another said: “Going through the same thing now. I have an appointment tomorrow with Land Rover.”
Strange car problems, like mechanics discovering unexpected items under the hood seem to be more common than people think.
These complaints match up with some pretty bad reliability scores. Consumer Reports ranked Land Rover, which owns Range Rover, 30th overall among major car brands. In the luxury category, they only ranked 14th. They also ranked 29th for road tests and long-term maintenance costs.
Many people online weren’t surprised by Tamika’s problems. Comments on her video showed that lots of people already know about Range Rover’s reliability issues. Many suggested buying a Toyota or Honda instead if you want a car that actually works reliably. Even self-driving cars getting into weird situations shows that modern vehicles can have unexpected problems.
