Bandai Namco has offered another look at the upcoming SoulCalibur VI, which this time focuses exclusively on the classic and fan-favourite character Nightmare. The video showcases the look of this monstruous villain for this entry, as well as his powerful moves that will put in serious trouble to any competitor. The video comes with a commentary by game producer Motohiro Okubo, in which he explains the approach the team took to create this version of the character, and what to expect of him in the new game.
For Okubo, Nightmare clearly embodies all the darkness of the story, which is why is one of the most fun characters to design and play with his attributes. This is the reason why his attack moves and his Critical Edge have a very unique style, with the producer even describing it as “too particular,” so it will be interesting to see what he’s referring to.
SoulCalibur VI has been conceived as a soft reboot of the fighting series. The game revisits key events of the first entries of the franchise in order to take players back to some of those iconic moments, and offer new information about them at the same time. Okubo says that the game is shaping up to be “absurdly cool,” so fans of the series should pay close attention to it.
SoulCalibur VI launches this 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Watch the new trailer below, and remember to put on the English captions.
