Nintendo 3DS just launched in Japan. That being said, hacking enthusiasts have created a tool to play R4 catridges on the 3DS. This doesn’t quite mean that pirated 3DS games can be played on the device. What it does mean is that you can play pirated DS software on the device. This is regarded as the first hack because the 3DS software needs to be bypassed in order for this to work.
As far as the actual 3DS software goes. Nintendo has claimed that 3DS software will not be as easy to steal as the DS. Satoru Iwata, President at Nintendo of Japan recently claimed that “anti-piracy measures have been increased for the 3DS”.
We fear a kind of thinking is become widespread that paying for software is meaningless… We have a strong sense of crisis about this problem.
The Nintendo 3DS has just launched in Japan and is coming to U.S. on March 27th.
