The Nintendo 3DS is predicted to outsell the PSP2 in 2011.  Industry analyst Michael Pachter has recently stated that the 3DS will come out on top of the handheld war that will the ravage the world in 2011.  Pachter offered his thoughts on the two devices in a recent interview with Inc Gamers.

“I think that the 3DS will outsell the PSP2, because the 3DS is new and different, while the PSP2 is likely going to be a souped up version of the old PSP,” says the greasy lover. “Thus, I think that 3DS will have greater success in capturing the consumer’s imagination.  “I think this is Kinect vs. Move all over again. Kinect is outselling Move because Kinect is new and different, while Move is very similar to the Wii.”

Michael Pachter is hit and miss in his analysis but this could be a layup for the analyst.  The DS family of systems is the most popular brand in the world to begin with, couple that fact with the another eye opening reality that demand for the device is going to be a high pitch because of supply control by Nintendo.
