The Nintendo NX was announced completely out of nowhere earlier this year, though not surprising at all considering the disappointing sales of the Wii U. At the time, it was not known if it was a console or handheld, but most reports have pegged it as the next console. Now, completely out of nowhere we have had the first two games announced for it this morning and it might have revealed some details about the system itself.
Square Enix held a livestream presentation earlier as we told you, which most notably gave us the first announcement for Dragon Quest 11. Announced then as coming to Playstation 4 and 3DS, it was later revealed that the game is also coming to NX.
This is great news for those that do not plan on getting a PS4, but always get Nintendo consoles and wanted a non-handheld version of Dragon Quest 11. The most intriguing information however was that Dragon Quest 11 itself will be running on Unreal Engine 4 on PS4, which seemingly would confirm that the NX can handle Unreal Engine 4.
This is major news, as while they are doing a lesser version for 3DS, it would be very unlikely they’d do a third variation for the NX. Perhaps this means that the NX will compete at least in some way power wise with the PS4 and Xbox One, perhaps bringing more 3rd party support to the system in the long run.
In addition, it as revealed that Dragon Quest 10 will be coming to Nintendo NX as well, which has previously released on Wii and Wii U also.
There is no telling when Dragon Quest 11 will be coming, but if it is coming in 2016 to PS4 and 3DS, that would possibly lend more credence to the belief that we’ll see the Nintendo NX release next year as well.
