Once code named the NX, the Nintendo Switch was finally revealed to the world back in October as Nintendo’s next system. This home console/handheld hybrid has had people excited for a long time and now we finally know when it is going to be arriving after tonight’s much awaited Nintendo Switch presentation.
The initial unveiling of the Nintendo Switch in October announced that the console would indeed be releasing in March 2017. That seemed a little soon, but Nintendo has not disappointed as they have revealed that the console will be coming on March 3 worldwide.
The March 3 release date seems like it should be a good fit. March definitely has some game releases that are coming, but Nintendo should be able to thrive with a brand new console release there, unlike the much more crowded landscape that the Wii U launched in during the holiday season in 2012.
Considering that March 17 has been the rumored release date for awhile now, this different release date has us wondering what other surprises will be coming in this presentation.
Pre-orders for the system are not available yet, but make sure to stay tuned for details on that as soon as they have been announced by Nintendo or the various retailers.
