A new No Man’s Sky update is out now on PC with a release on PS4 said to be coming soon. We don’t yet have all the details on this update, with Hello Games not issuing the official patch notes just yet. However, this is likely No Man’s Sky update 1.04, which was said to be coming soon after release, and was promised to make players very “happy”, according to the developer.
No Man’s Sky launched with a ton of hype and anticipation behind it, but as gamers got their hands on the game it became clear that it was not living up to a lot of the promise. While some complained about core tenets of the gameplay, the real issues seemed to be performance related. Crashes were fairly rampany for some, even on the PS4. PC was a totally different experience, with multiple crashes and framerate issues, even on extremely powerful machines. An update hit pretty quickly to address some of these problems, but more still needs to be done.
This latest No Man’s Sky update is said to be performance focused, with Sean Murray saying that this “PC build adds support for more hardware + improves frame rate at low spec. PS4 improves stability + lots more”. He also assured fans that “even though less than one per cent of players have raised support issues, we’re going to resolve roughly 70% of them this week.” As Murray says later, with a game as massively successful as No Man’s Sky, even 1% of players is a huge amount of people.
