Microsoft accidentally jumped the gun with the advertisement for the promised add-on to Halo: The Master Chief Collection which would bring the ODST campaign to the game. Â The advert said it would be available on May 29th, but apparently that’s not going to happen.
The Halo Twitter account has clarified the error, “A placeholder release date for the ODST campaign for Halo: The Master Chief Collection was inadvertently listed on the Xbox Store,” and revealed “We continue final testing and will make an announcement once our release date is determined, and apologize for any confusion.”
It appears that Microsoft doesn’t yet know when the campaign will release, and those waiting patiently will need to wait a bit longer. Â ODST was likely slated as a premium add-on for the 2014 collection. Â However, long-running issues with The Master Chief Collection prompted Microsoft to offer the beloved campaign as an apology to fans.
Halo 3: ODST originally released back in 2009 and put players in roles of Spartans other than The Master Chief. Â The game was praised for taking a different approach to story-telling, Â using new types of atmosphere and presentation in the Halo series.
