As we reported earlier, the PlayStation 4 exclusive The Order: 1886 has gone gold ahead of its release on February 20th. To celebrate the official announcement this morning, the team released a new Story Trailer for fans to take a look at. Check it out below, and click here to read our impressions of the game so far.

Well, it took a few years to get here, but I’m happy to say that The Order: 1886 went gold last week!

The game is quite a unique venture, and took many years of development to reach this point. It play like a typical third-person shooter, but the world and environment are all quite unique. The game takes place in an alternate history version of London where a special order of knights keep the world safe from monsters. Using interesting weapons like the popular Thermite Gun that the team has shown off at various conventions, players will fight off monsters and other humans as one of four protagonists.

The team behind The Order: 1886, Ready at Dawn, have been responsible for many classic PlayStation exclusive titles, such as the PSP God of War games. The project was originally pitched to Sony in 2010, leading to a longer than normal development time for the team. However, their hard work is now almost complete as work transitions from building the game, to patching up any bugs or glitches the team might have left behind.

There have been a string of games going gold weeks ahead of their launch. This is likely due to the issues seen in last year’s big holiday releases, which seemed to launch in a non-complete state quite regularly. With the team announcing completion on the main part of the game just over a month ahead of launch, it shows confidence in the final product that consumers can latch onto. Hopefully this confidence is well placed and The Order: 1886 has a smooth and successful launch.
