Xbox One Backwards Compatibility has been a very well-received new feature for Microsoft’s console. Originally announced at E3 2014, the service has quickly become a favorite for longtime Xbox fans, as it lets them play their older Xbox 360 games on the new console. However, despite the 360 having a somewhat robust backwards compatibility catalog of its own, original Xbox games have not made their way to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility yet. According to Xbox head Phil Spencer, that could end at some point.
In a response to a fan question on Twitter, which asked whether original Xbox games could come to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility, Spencer replied “We haven’t ruled it out but we aren’t working on it right now. I’d like to find the time to do it.”
So it seems that there are currently no plans for it, but simply hearing that it is a possibility is a big step forward. In fact, Spencer even seems to be a big fan of the idea, which would set the Xbox One up to be able to play most games that have been released for the entire console line. If nothing else, having the Xbox 360’s backwards compatibility options added to the Xbox One would be pretty nice, as that list contained a good number of the best games on the original console.
If they were able to do this, what original Xbox games would you want to be able to play on your Xbox One? Let us know in the comments.
