Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 has had its release date pushed up from its original Spring 2016 window to February 23rd, 2016. In an industry that has had multiple major games receive release date delays, it’s a bit odd to see one get moved to an earlier slot. However, it seems that the team at EA and Popcap have been doing well with development, enough that they are confident with the earlier time.
“Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 drops you into an all-out battle where for the first time in franchise history, zombies have conquered Suburbia and plants are on the attack. Players who pre-order will get immediate access to the new Grass Effect Z7-Mech when they start the game. Inspired by one of the development team’s favorite videogame franchises, PopCap Vancouver worked in close partnership with BioWareâ„¢ to create this one-of-a-kind mech that comes loaded with the melee Zomni-tool, kinetic padding, and a biotic ability ‘Pull’ to quickly close the gap between you and the plant menace.”
The game is a class-based third-person shooter, with a heavy emphasis on multiplayer and teamwork. The original was a surprisingly fun and engaging game, which you can read all about in our review. We also went hands-on with Garden Warfare 2 at E3 2015, coming away quite impressed with the direction the game was taking.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 23rd, 2016.
