As July comes to a close gamers have waited in anticipation to see what free games they’ll receive from Xbox Live and PlayStation Plus. The former released their list yesterday, showing off big hits like WWE 2K16 and Spelunky. Today Sony hit back with a very impressive list of their own.
The PlayStation Plus free games for August 2016 are Tricky Towers for PS4, Rebel Galaxy for PS4, Yakuza 5 for PS3, Retro/Grade for PS3, Patapon 3 for PS Vita, and Ultratron for PS Vita, PS3 and PS4. The list doesn’t seem to have any massive heavy hitters like WWE 2K16, but many of these titles were very well received, including Rebel Galaxy.
“Suit up and take command in this space combat RPG from developer Double Damage,” reads the descriptions from Sony. “Take the helm of a massive destroyer as you make your reputation through trade, by being a work-for-hire mercenary or a swashbuckling pirate. In a procedurally generated universe, no two star systems are the same and there’s always something new to discover. So take the helm, prepare for battle, and have a blast with Rebel Galaxy.”
Tricky Towers is a bit of an unknown, but that’s because the game is brand new. Sony seems to love doing this with indie titles, giving the games a big boost in sales as PS Plus members gobble them up at no cost.
With both services having unveiled their lists of free games for August 2016 we’ll start crunching the numbers and give you your monthly matchup later this week.
