Virtual reality headsets are really starting to become a part of the modern gaming landscape with the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive launching recently, but the one that will likely have the most mainstream support is the PlayStation VR. One complaint about VR has been that there’s no way to try it without buying it, but gamers will soon have an opportunity to try it for themselves.
GameStop remains one of the biggest names in gaming and the company just held an investors meeting in Dallas where they discussed a number of topics. According to Fortune, they held hands-on PlayStation VR demos to give shareholders an idea of what they can expect from the new headset.
This isn’t exactly noteworthy, as it is to be expected that they’d do so, but the bigger news was that John Koller, vice president of marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, discussed the in-store demo plans for PlayStation VR.
Koller revealed that they will be offering around 500,000 demo stations across all retailers starting this June as he said that “trial drives the conversion to purchase.”
The COO of GameStop, Tony Bartel, of course confirmed that GameStop will be one of those retailers that will be having dedicated PlayStation VR demo machines, which is much larger than their limited run of 10 demo stations for the HTC Vive.
