Yesterday was a big day for Sony as they finally gave us a release date and price for the PlayStation VR during their GDC conference. When this information was revealed during the conference, it was surprising to learn that it would not come bundled with at least one accessory that it will need, but it sounds like there will be a bundle after all.
During the conference yesterday, we learned that PlayStation VR is going to cost $399.99 as many expected. However, it was then revealed that this would not include the all important PlayStation Camera or optional PlayStation Move that many thought would come bundled with it.
According to Tech Insider, president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida and a representative revealed during an interview with them that a bundle would indeed be coming as well.
The reason he gave for all PlayStation VR headsets not being bundled with at least the required PlayStation Camera is that they felt enough consumers already owned the PlayStation Camera to where they wouldn’t want to have to be forced to get it again in the bundle.
Instead, they decided to go with the base option with just the PlayStation VR headset, while another bundle will be available that includes both the PlayStation Camera and the PlayStation Move controller, the latter of which is completely optional to use with PlayStation VR.
