Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 Debuts at Number 1 in Japan

Recommended Videos

This year’s iteration of Pro Evolution Soccer (Winning Eleven in Japan) takes the top spot of this week’s charts revealed by Media Create. The game pulls solid numbers on its double release on PS4 and PS3, although they are lower than the previous entry. The game also pulled decent numbers in its UK debut, in line with last years’ game. The other new releases to make the top 5 are Metroid: Samus Returns and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the first one making a solid entry for what is the norm for the series in Japan, and the latter demonstrating that those kind of adventure games are mostly Western-oriented.

Other new entries in the top 20 include F1 2017 and Champion Jockey Special, although they both failed to make an impression in the charts. It’s a different story for some of the holdovers like Splatoon 2, which stays high up in the list thanks to being the main title that people buy when purchasing a new Nintendo Switch. Other previous releases like Destiny 2 and Everybody’s Golf also have soft drops, which may indicate some decent sales in the long term.

As for the hardware chart, Nintendo Switch maintains its dominance ahead of the rest of consoles, followed by PS4 and Nintendo 3DS.
