PS4 Sales Reach Over 2 Million In The UK

Sony has now announced that the PS4 has now sold over 2 million units in the UK.

Sony made the announcement on the new PS4 milestone to MCV. The 2 million sales mark was reached over the weekend.

Sony noted the PS4 reached the 2 million sales mark in the UK faster than the PS2 did. It was also revealed the console is the best selling games machine in the UK in 2015.

Sony is proud to have reached 2 million sales for the PS4 in just 18 months. It reached that mark in just 75 weeks. The 1 million sales mark was reached in just 42 weeks.

PlayStation’s UK boss Fergal Gara commented:

“To be the best selling ‘next generation’ console in Britain – installing faster even than the PlayStation 2 – is testament to an amazing and constantly improving product, the hard work of our trade partners and the team at PlayStation UK, and most importantly, the passion of the players. I would like to thank every one involved in helping us achieve this landmark.”

On a worldwide scale, Sony has now sold over 22.3 million PS4 consoles. Sony expects to sell close to 15 million more consoles over the next year. Holiday 2015 is shaping up to be a big season so it’s possible more consoles will be sold.
