Earlier today, we told you rumors of what will come in Sony’s next major firmware update for the PlayStation 4, including rumors of the addition of media playback. However, the latest PS4 system update, version 1.74, is now out and sadly it is just more of the same for now.
As with most small updates for PlayStation systems, it simply involves the improved stability of the console, which is described exactly by Sony as:
- “System software stability during use of some features has been improved.”
This update is a very small one at only 194 MB, so it will take you no time to get it downloaded and be able to get on with your gaming and other PlayStation 4 related tasks you have planned. Unlike the last update that was gradually released across the different regions, PS4 System Update 1.74 is now available in the US, Europe, and Asia, so likely if you are reading this right now, there is a very good chance it is already available for you.
This is still kind of disappointing for those that have been waiting for the major features such as DLNA and media playback, but with rumors of a major update coming in August around Gamescom, it’s a little easier pill to swallow for now. What features are you badly waiting on and are you beginning to get tired of these smaller updates that are serving as merely teases? Let us know how you feel below.
