We learned earlier this week that PSN was going to be down for a few hours today for scheduled maintenance. That time has come and gone, but it appears that it is running a little longer than expected and is causing downtime for some users across different systems.
The official PSN status webpage lists the maintenance as still underway, with a specific update about an hour and a half ago that said:
- Update (2:25pm Pacific): PSN maintenance is ongoing, and some users may have difficulty accessing the network.
The actual system being down is very scattered for many, with me personally have no issues at all doing anything on PlayStation 4, including accessing the PS Store. It may be a case where you will not notice anything going on whatsoever.
However, I absolute cannot do anything on my PS Vita, the PlayStation app on mobile, or the web store. There are times that it seems like it may be about to work, so hopefully this means the maintenance period is ending soon. Sony was pretty good about getting everything back up and running from the unannounced maintenance on Tuesday, so they are bound to get this one finished as soon as they can.
If you are experiencing issues, make sure to check out the official PSN status webpage linked above to see if the maintenance has concluded.
Update: The status page is now listed as online, though it still mentions that maintenance is ongoing. It seems we may be past most of the downtime and any trouble should be pretty sporadic.
