Using the PlayStation Store on your PSP console will no longer be available if you live in Japan. Sony is closing the store for good next year.

The announcement was made on the official Japanese PlayStation website. Access to the PlayStation Store using the portable console will no longer be an option from March 31st, 2016.

That’s not to say you cannot buy digital PSP games anymore. You can buy new portable games via the PC, PS3, and PS Vita devices. From there, you can transfer any new purchases to the PSP console.

You don’t have to worry about your existing purchases if you want to re-download anything you have deleted. Sony said re-download is available directly from the PSP for past or future purchases made from the PlayStation Store.

It’s been over a decade now that the console has been out in the market. It’s good to know you can still buy games for the portable system, although you have to do so using other platforms.

This might mean not many people visit the PlayStation Store on the PSP anymore. This is why Sony is deciding the can the storefront in 2016.
