A map for Red Dead Redemption 2 had been making its way around the internet recently, although nobody could confirm if it was real or not. Apparently, the map is real and more interesting information has been revealed about the game.

A source close to Rockstar has confirmed with TechRadar that the map is legitimate, but you will notice a few changes from the original game. This is because the map reflects what happens before the events of Red Dead Redemption, meaning that the next game is indeed a prequel.

TechRadar also notes that the map has a lot of water which means Red Dead Redemption 2 could have some sailing or swimming mechanics of some sort. The map also includes New Bordeaux which is the location used in the new Mafia 3 video game also published by Take Two.

If the game is indeed a prequel, it will likely have a different name. We’re not sure what that name will be yet, but Rockstar is likely to announce more details on it very soon. It’s expected we might hear more about the game during E3 season.

Another rumored leak about the game came from a user on NeoGAF. The user mentioned that he has a friend that is a stuntman and he confirmed to him that the game is indeed a prequel as he did the mo-cap work. The stuntman was playing a character that was half-Indian and half White.  However, he’s unsure if it’s the main character yet.
