Has your Oculus Rift or HTC Vive been collecting dust as of late? Well brush it off and get ready to dive into the world of Rick and Morty VR, which just launched on Steam and the Oculus Store. We tried the game out at PAX and will have a review out as soon as possible, but until then you can check out the official launch trailer below.
Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality comes from the makers of Job Simulator, which has been heralded as one of the greatest VR games out there. This new game puts you into the world of Rick and Morty, letting you explore environments from the show.
As far as what you’ll do in those environments, the PAX demo involved some quick and easy puzzles. The gameplay was very similar to Job Simulator, where you’re given specific tasks to accomplish and then can do that however you want. The big draw here is the humor, with characters from the show making references or just being their usual odd selves.
VR hit hard last year, with many thinking the technology would usher in a new age of interactive gaming. In the last year though things have definitely cooled. The biggest problem facing VR is the high cost of entry, which was helped with the launch of PlayStation VR. Those with a powerful PC and a VR headset are left with few games to play since the market isn’t large enough to support big investments.
Rick and Morty VR shows what can happen when a company puts a lot into the VR gaming space. This is Owlchemy Labs’ next big thing, and they’ve learned a lot from their past effort. We’ll see if it all pays off soon, but you can play the game right now.
