Rise of the Tomb Raider is only a little over two months away from releasing and one piece of the game that we’ve yet to hear anything about was a multiplayer element. Everything so far has been focused on the single player, which has been kind of strange following the multiplayer side of its predecessor, but now we know exactly why it hasn’t been discussed.
The Official Xbox Magazine for September is out now and with Rise of the Tomb Raider being a timed exclusive in 2015 to Xbox One, it’s natural that the magazine would have plenty of coverage leading up to the release in November.
As pointed as by All Games Beta on Twitter, the most interesting part is the mention that there is no multiplayer at all in the game. A block quote in the article said the following:
“With multiplayer cut from the experience, Crystal Dynamics needed to make this core campaign as entertaining as possible.”
Considering this is straight from the source basically, it seems multiplayer really has gotten the ax in Rise of the Tomb Raider. The multiplayer found in the Tomb Raider reboot was decent fun, but I’m personally glad they chose to forgo it this time. This means they can focus exclusively on the single player experience, which is what truly matters in Rise of the Tomb Raider as we continue the evolution of this new Lara Croft.
What do you think about the removal of multiplayer in Rise of the Tomb Raider? Make sure to let us know in the comments below if this is something that will make or break your purchase or if it really doesn’t matter at all.
