Batman vs Superman has been out for a few weeks now and it has grossed over $800 million worldwide. A new report suggests how much money the movie needs to make before Warner Bros. considers releasing the R rated cut into cinemas.
Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez heard back from his sources this week that Warner Bros. might only consider releasing the R rated version of Batman vs Superman in cinemas if the original Box Office total is $20 to $30 million shy of $1 billion.
If the movie gets approximately $970 million or $980 million worldwide, only then will Warner Bros. will release the 3 hour cut of the film just prior to it coming out on Blu-ray.
Take this news as a rumor for now as Warner Bros. could always change their minds. However, fans will be hungry for more footage of Batman vs Superman as the original cut seems have to deleted a few scenes that would have explained things a little better. Not to mention it adds a few more violent scenes which is why it’s been rated R.
The only deleted scene we’ve seen so far is when Lex Luthor gets arrested. There will be 30 minutes of additional footage included so it might be worth checking out again if you liked the movie the first time you saw it.
