This week’s UK charts see various important new releases, and still, Electronic Arts’ FIFA 18 remains at top of the list, highlighting the popularity of the brand in the market. Still, Warner Bros. Middle Earth: Shadow of War and Bethesda’s The Evil Within 2 manage to enter the charts at number 2 and 3, respectively. It’s the same situation that the original Shadow of Mordor had to face in 2014, when FIFA 15 held it off the top position. The other new release of the week is Friday The 13th: The Game, which debuts at number 15.
According to GfK Chart-Track, physical sales of Shadow of War only dropped slightly from its predecessor, which can be explained with the rise of the digital market since then. However, the drop in sales of The Evil Within 2 seems much more serious, only moving around a quarter of what the first entry sold in 2014. In our reviews we described Shadow of War as “bigger and better than its predecessor in almost every conceivable way,” while we thought that The Evil Within 2 “attempted to both cram too much in and offer too little at the same time.”
As for the holdovers from previous weeks, Forza Motorsport 7 is pushed down to number 4, while Destiny 2 gets off the top 5 for the first time since its release.
