Middle Earth: Shadow of War will have an optional DLC created to honor Monolith’s late executive producer, Michael Forgey.
After losing a battle with glioblastoma, a rare form of cancer, back in May 2016, Monolith lost one of the minds behind the massively successful Shadow of Mordor. In the upcoming sequel to Mordor, Forgey will be immortalized as Forthog Orc-Slayer, Forthog being a nickname the team had for the producer.
The DLC will cost $3.99, $3.50 of which will go to his family until December 2019. As for what the DLC adds, Forthog will be a sort of Mysterious Stranger from the Fallout series. During fights, Forthog has a chance of randomly appearing, his powerful blows being able to one-shot enemies, before walking back into a thick white mist.
A trailer has been created for the DLC, accompanied by some very powerful music that was written and performed by Forgey before his passing. The trailer ends with a sweet, melancholic message from the development team.
Middle Earth: Shadow of War launches on October 10th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Both console versions will see enhancements for the PS4 and Xbox One X, with the latter offering a full Native 4K experience.
The Forthog Orc-Slayer DLC is available to pre-purchase now on your chosen platform.
