During Ubisoft’s E3 press conference we learned that a sequel to 2014’s fantastic South Park: The Stick of Truth would be releasing later this year, bringing the creations of Trey Parker and Matt Stone back for another hilarious RPG adventure. However, in a new video they have revealed that The Fractured But Whole was not the game’s original name, as that name had to be changed.
In a Behind the Scenes video with PlayStation the two men reveal that the original name for the game was The Butthole of Time, but apparently retailers wouldn’t have stocked the game with that name. This resulted in them trying to figure a way to get around that, which resulted in butthole becoming but whole.
This is just the kind of problem that I would expect Parker and Stone to run into in their crazy world, but honestly I think it’s one that worked out for the better. The Fractured But Whole is actually a pretty clever and funny name, whereas The Butthole of Time is just silly.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is set to launch on December 6th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can check out the Behind the Scenes video with Trey Parker and Matt Stone below.
