The Conquest mode in DICE’s Battlefield series has been a huge hit for a long time, as it has teams capturing and defending control points that are scattered throughout the map and leads to lots of action and strategy. Due to the mode’s popularity, it’s unsurprising to learn that fans of the developer want it to appear in other games that they are working on, most notably their upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 2.
However, the chances of that happening aren’t looking good right now, as a member of the team recently spoke on the issue in a way that doesn’t give much hope for it. DICE’s Dennis Brännvall responded to a fan on Twitter who asked him about Conquest ever coming to Battlefront 2, to which he replied with “I don’t think we’ll go that far into our other franchise but there’s certainly things to learn from both.”
While he doesn’t come out point blank and say that the mode will never come to Star Wars Battlefront 2, it definitely isn’t looking good right now. However, in saying that there are “things to learn from both” could mean that we might see some kind of Battlefield influence on Battlefront 2, and even vice versa. We’re going to have to wait until next year for specific details, however, as we know very little about the game currently.
One thing that we have heard about Star Wars Battlefront 2 is that it’s going to be a more ambitious game than the first one was. EA’s Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen spoke about the game earlier this year and claimed that it will be “much bigger” and “much more exciting” than what came before. One of the biggest criticisms that the first game received was its lack of a single player campaign, so it’s expected that DICE will be remedying that with the sequel in 2017.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in Fall 2017.
