Just days ahead of Gamescom 2017, EA has released a trailer showcasing the Starfighter Assault mode in Star Wars Battlefront II. Space battles were notably absent upon the release of Star Wars Battlefront in 2015 before finally making their way into the game via DLC, and it looks like EA is rectifying that mistake by including large scale space battles from the prequel era and original trilogy.
The trailer below shows several different locations beginning with the Death Star debris above Endor. It then cuts to an Imperial shipyard above Fondor with Darth Vader taking part in the battle. For those excited to see some prequel era action, there will be locations above Ryloth and at the Kamino research outpost, where Darth Maul and Yoda will be playable.
The more we see from Star Wars Battlefront II, the more it looks like EA is really trying to listen to player feedback. With bigger and better space battles, new characters and planets, maps from every era, and a dedicated single-player campaign, Battlefront II is shaping up to be a must-have this holiday. Let’s just hope EA keeps their word and doesn’t fragment the community with paid map packs.
EA is hosting a live show from Gamescom on Monday, August 21 starting at 9:30 AM PT. We should be seeing a more in-depth look at the Starfighter Assault mode at that time.
Star Wars Battlefront II is set to release on November 17, 2017. Those who pre-order can get up to three days early access and exclusive character costumes.
