Star Wars Battlefront and Disney Infinity 3.0 has helped make Star Wars video games generate over $1 billion in revenue this year.
According to a report from Fortune, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter estimates that Star Wars Battlefront has earned $660 million in revenue. Pachter feels the game sold 6 million units in November and an additional 6 million units in December.
In the same report, another analyst named Evan Wilson from Pacific Crest Securities estimates that Star Wars Battlefront sold 13 million copies already. This is close to the estimate Pachter predicts of the game selling 12 million copies.
Pachter also estimated that Disney Infinity earned over $200 million this year on games and toys. This is thanks to Disney Infinity 3.0 which is the only video game that allows you to play The Force Awakens content. The Disney Infinity franchise is ahead of its competitors Skylanders and LEGO Dimensions. Those franchises earned $150 million each.
The other revenue earned from Star Wars games are from those released on mobile devices. Analysts feel the positive reception of The Force Awakens has greatly benefited on the sales of all Star Wars video games out this year. Star Wars fever has never been higher and Disney must be very happy about the amount of money it has been earning so far.
