The Steam Winter Sale 2015 has officially begun on Valve’s PC game storefront. Hundreds of games have been discounted on the service, with some seeing major discounts of up to 90%. Even some new games have been discounted for the first time, though the deals are a bit smaller for AAA and new games. Get ready to empty your wallet once again, as this is the last Steam sale of the year, running until January 4th, 2016. Here’s some of our favorite deals, but be sure to check out the whole store to see them all.
Metal Gear Solid V for 33$ off, Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series for 66% off, Grim Fandango Remastered for 80% off, GTA V for 40% off, Just Cause 3 for 20% off, Rocket League for 30% off, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for 25% off, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for 50% off, The Elder Scrolls series for 60-75% off.
As we reported previously, the Steam Winter Sale has taken on the characteristics that we saw with last month’s Autumn Sale. This means there is no huge community game, no daily deals, and no lightning deals. All the games are discounted to the lowest that they will be for the entirety of the sale, so if you’re interested in any of these games, you can feel free to buy them without worrying about a lower price hitting some time later.
This new system has come about most likely due to Steam refunds being offered. Now that players can ask for a refund for almost any reason, many would buy games during the sale, then ask for a refund if the price dropped below what they paid for it. This would cause a management nightmare as thousands of gamers asked for refunds during the sale. The solution was to just move to a standard discount model, which is less enjoyable, but also less stressful, as buyers simply have to check the store one time to see all the deals.
