It appears Target retailers in Australia have decided to pull Grand Theft Auto V off all of its shelves.

Just a a few days ago, it was revealed over in New Zealand that “The Warehouse” and “Noel Leeming” retailers were pulling Grand Theft Auto V off of shelves. Their action was more extreme as all R18 material will no longer be sold.

Just across the ditch, Target in Australia sent out a press release confirming that they are pulling Grand Theft Auto V off of their shelves too.

The decision to no longer sell Grand Theft Auto V at Target was done from feedback received from customers. These customers suggested the game was too violent toward women among other things.

Unlike The Warehouse and Noel Leeming in New Zealand, Target Australia will still continue to sell other R-rated movies and games. It looks like Grand Theft Auto V has just been singled out.

One has to wonder if the new FPS perspective is to blame for Grand Theft Auto V being pulled off of shelves. None of these retailers thought about it last year when the game came out on PS3/Xbox 360.

It will be interesting to see how retailers in New Zealand and Australia react to Mortal Kombat X when it comes out in April 2015…
