Tekken X Street Fighter Is Still Missing In Action After All These Years

Bandai Namco revealed to the world that Tekken 7 will be releasing sometime in the future. That’s cool and all, but where is any mention of Tekken X Street Fighter?

Tekken X Street Fighter was announced four years ago at the San Diego Comic Con. At the time, Street Fighter X Tekken was announced too. Capcom already developed that game as it came out in 2012 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Four years on, and little else has been revealed about Bandai Namco’s Tekken X Street Fighter.

Tekken X Street Fighter was expected to be using the Tekken 6’s game engine and Ryu and Jin were announced to be in it. Many people expected it to come out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. As the years and months went by, no other official announcements were made.

Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada did announce recently the game’s development has shifted and they will now be focused on releasing the game on PS4 and Xbox One. This makes sense, although they came out of nowhere with the Tekken 7 announcement first.

I don’t have any problems with Tekken 7, but it sounds like to me Tekken X Street Fighter will be shafted once again. Tekken 7 was announced just yesterday and there is a good chance it could be released before Tekken X Street Fighter.

Maybe the game will be released 14 years after its announcement like Duke Nukem Forever. A 2024 release date sounds legit at this rate.
