Telltale Teasing Something Big for The Walking Dead Fans in 2015, Season 3 Coming Later

Telltale Games have announced that The Walking Dead Season 3 won’t be coming until at least 2016, with their other games such as Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands taking priority this year. However, that doesn’t mean they don’t have anything The Walking Dead related coming in 2015. In fact, via a few teaser style tweets, they seem to have something that will please a lot of fans.

Job J. Stauffer, Director of PR for Telltale Games, has been sharing a few bits of info via Twitter that concern The Walking Dead. It all began when he said “To re-clarify, no, TWD S3 is *not* starting in 2015. But what I am seeing this week will be, and it is insanely cool. Stay close, news soon!” This got fans upset, thinking that nothing The Walking Dead related was coming in 2015, to which Stauffer responded “I didn’t say that…. ;)” Finally, earlier today in response to an article discussing his current teases Stauffer said “something BIG for WD fans” was coming in 2015.

Of course, this has set fans to the usual speculating. With The Walking Dead Season 3 ruled out already there are only a couple of options. The easiest and most likely is DLC for The Walking Dead Season 2, possibly taking a similar form as 400 Days, the DLC for Season 1. This would mean players would control characters not directly tied to the main story line of Season 2, but that might have an impact on the following season.

Slightly bigger speculation points to a new game based off of the Walking Dead spinoff, Fear The Walking Dead. With the series debuting on AMC this Summer it would be the perfect time, however this doesn’t really fit with Telltale’s formula. The current run of The Walking Dead games are actually based off of the original comic, and not the TV show of the same name. It is a small, but important distinction to make, especially because Fear The Walking Dead will be an original creation, requiring entirely new licensing agreements to be used.

Whatever it is, it seems that The Walking Dead fans can look forward to something big coming out of Telltale later this year.
