The Final Fantasy XV director has admitted that if there is one franchise he’d like to work on, it will be on The Legend of Zelda.

Dengeki PlayStation (via Nintendo Everything) interviewed Hajime Tabata who is the director for Final Fantasy XV. They asked him a hypothetical question on what game franchise he’d like to work on that isn’t Final Fantasy of course.

Tabata promptly answered: “The Legend of Zelda series. I’m not quite sure why myself, but a Zelda game made with the technology and know-how of Final Fantasy XV is the game I wish to create as of this moment.”

The current The Legend of Zelda game for Wii U is being built on a special engine that looks cel-shaded. However, the game would look even prettier if it used the Final Fantasy XV engine.

Not to mention the Zelda games are all about exploration and epic new worlds. Tabata would make a good fit if he were to make a game about Link in the near future.

Although don’t get your hopes up because this was just a friendly question. Tabata still needs to work on completing Final Fantasy XV first. Square Enix is still promising the game will be out in 2016 sometime.
