The month of October has been a big one for games in the shooter genre with Gears of War 4 and Battlefield 1 already out and Titanfall 2 set to release later this week. Titanfall 2 definitely seems to be the least talked about of the bunch, but a new interview has revealed how the game will perform on the PS4 Pro.
The PS4 Pro was announced last month during a special presentation from Sony, though it led to a lot of controversy. The console won’t be a major upgrade like that of the upcoming Scorpio will be to the Xbox One, but many games will still perform better on the console and Titanfall 2 will do just that.
In an interview with Stevivor, Titanfall 2 executive Producer Drew McCoy discussed the upcoming game through a variety of topics, including the PS4 Pro. McCoy did reveal that the game won’t be running at 4K to no big surprise, with him saying he’d be surprised if we saw AAA games running at 4K resolutions anytime soon. However, the frame rate will definitely be an improvement on the Pro.
“It’s a PS4 that’s faster. We’re able to increase the resolution, we have high-res shadows, and maybe higher particle counts. The frame rate is more stable; we have dynamic resolution scaling on all consoles, but it scales down less often on PS4 Pro to maintain 60 frames-per-second.”
McCoy went on further to say that like most developers, they didn’t get too much of a heads up about the Pro. The fact that they already had a PC version of the game as well though has helped to to make adjustments for the improved hardware of the PS4 Pro.
With the PS4 Pro launching on November 10, Titanfall 2 will definitely be one of the first games to take advantage of the upgraded system, which McCoy says “runs better, looks better and has no bugs on PS4 Pro.”
