Ubisoft has somewhat let it slip that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will have something called “Rainbow Credits” plus the maps will be free.

The very vocal and outspoken Angry Joe (Joe Vargas) had a chance to interview Scott Mitchell recently who is the Animation Director on Rainbow Six Siege.

He confirmed that the game will something called “Rainbow Credits” which players can use to unlock things. Angry Joe asked him what this was, but the PR person said they weren’t allowed to talk about this now. All he said is that it’s an in-game currency to unlock more stuff.

It sounds like this could be some form of microtransaction system, although Mitchell did not confirm this outright. He wasn’t really allowed to talk about this yet, so we may find out more on this soon.

Elsewhere in the interview, Mitchell confirmed the game will launch with 11 maps. He is also promising some of the maps will be bigger than what people have seen in the recent beta that took place a few weeks ago.

Speaking of future maps, they will be added in as free DLC. Mitchell said Ubisoft did this on purpose because they did not want to split the community. This is something positive about the game. Sadly, Mitchell did not want to say what the Season Pass includes even though maps will all be free.

Do you like the sound of “Rainbow Credits” being in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege?
