Ubisoft has announced a new rewards program for its players dubbed the “Ubisoft Club.” The new initiative sounds like a rebranding of Uplay, which offered similar features to what are discussed in the introductory video to Ubisoft Club.
Ubisoft Club will offer extra in-game content, participation in betas, limited edition content, and discounts on Ubisoft titles. Uplay has been a controversial system for the publisher. It forces players to use an extra layer of what is essentially a digital rights management platform to play Ubisoft games. While its not quite as noticeable for console players, PC players who use Steam have jump through multiple unnecessary hoops to play Ubisoft games.
To sign-up for Ubisoft Club you can do so at this link. This will automatically merge all the XP and badges that are already associated with your Ubisoft gaming profile.
As you can tell from the video above, gamers just want them to ditch the platform entirely. The video published only this morning is already racking up more dislikes than likes.
The timing is right for this announcement, coming in just in time for the release of one of Ubisoft’s biggest yearly franchises as Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate launches later this week.
