Out of the VR headsets released this year, the PlayStation VR appears to be the hardware of choice among UK consumers. Sales are set to exceed both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive combined.
As noted by MCV, GFK’s recent consumer panel survey shows data that sales for the PlayStation VR are set to exceed the combined sales of both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
MCV notes that there is a little inaccuracy in the data since GFK does not track UK sales from units bought via the official HTC Vive and Oculus Rift websites. The retail presence of both the PC VR headsets are minuscule compared to Sony’s reach in the market.
Still, GFK’s director Paul Simpson says that it shouldn’t be too surprising that the PSVR is selling better than the other two. Not only is the PSVR not as expensive, but a normal PS4 can run it. You don’t need a beefy PC with powerful specs.
Simpson continues to say that the PSVR users are also positive with their experience. He says people’s expectations have been exceeded and many people are recommending the product to their friends and family members. It will be cool to see how VR is able to innovative in 2017.
